Sheyenne is an early, dependable heirloom bred at North Dakota State University and released in 1960 by Dr. Neil Holland. Developed specifically for Northern Plains conditions, it produces vigorous, drought-tolerant, compact plants loaded with smooth, crack-resistant 6–12 oz bright red fruits and excellent, full tomato flavor.

A longtime local favorite in North Dakota and the Upper Midwest, Sheyenne is highly sought after for its reliability, early maturity, and proven performance in challenging climates—earning it a devoted following well beyond the region.

Growing Notes

Start seeds indoors 5–6 weeks before last frost. Sow ¼” deep. Average days to germination: 7–12 days.
